Curd Quinoa- Wholesome and High Nutritious Food

Summers are hot and we look out for the meal which actually helps us to keep our body cool... And what can be the better option than recipe prepared with curd??

Here I am sharing recipe - Curd Quinoa.

If you are new to this recipe. Let me tell you that this recipe is same as curd rice, only difference is rice is replaced with quinoa.

This can be best dish during summer times which act as a coolant to our body.

Quinoa is one such super food, I like to add in our diet .It is a nutrient rich food option for kids during their growing years. Our kids can surely benefit from this super food as it is wholesome and highly nutritious.

Quinoa has antioxidant properties and high amount of fibre content which will avoid constipation in kids as well in adults.

This recipe is easy to make and keep you full throughout the day.

My daughter, Amaira likes it very much and I am sure your kids will also like it too.

  • Quinoa - 1/2 cup ( after cooking quantity of quinoa gets doubled)
  • Water - 1 and 1/2 cups
  • Thick curd - 1/2 cup
  • Milk - 1/2 cup
  • Salt to taste.

For seasoning

  • Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
  • Red chilly-1 no
  • Asafoetida - a pinch
  • Curry leaves - few
  • Cashew nuts -4 to 5,chopped

To Garnish 

  • Grapes 
  • Pomegranate


  • Wash quinoa in running water.
  • Soak it in water for atleast 30 mins before cooking
  • I like to cook quinoa in pressure cooker.
  • Add in  soaked quinoa and 1 and 1/2 cups of water into pressure cooker and cook it on medium till you hear the high pressure.
  • Then turn down the flame to lowest and set the timer to 60 seconds .
  • Then Turn off the flame and let the pressure get released by itself .Allow the cooker to cool down completely.
  • Now quinoa is perfectly cooked.

To  make Quinoa Curd Rice 
  • To the cooked quinoa, add in half and half quantity of curd and milk.
  • Add little salt. Mix everything well.
To temper
  • Heat little oil, add in mustard seeds, red chilly, asafoetida, cashew nuts. Fry them.
  • Add seasoning into quinoa-curd mixture and mix well.
  • Red chilly which I used is not too spicy.. Adding red chilly as per your taste.
  • Lastly garnish with fresh fruits like grapes or pomegranate.
